The Atemoya Fruit

The atemoya (Annona squamosa × cherimola) is a cross between the cherimoya and zoetzak, in 1908 in Miami (Florida) is created. It is up to 9 meters high, evergreen tree with short trunk and overhanging branches.

The alternately arranged leaves are oval, leathery, 12 to 15 cm long and 7 cm wide.
The long-stemmed yellow flowers are 5 cm wide.

The fruit is heart shaped, 10 cm long and 10 cm wide. The skin is covered with wart-like protrusions, which are more pronounced than in the zoetzak. The flesh is creamy white and firm structure.

The taste is sweet and sour flavor and is similar to that of the cherimoya.
The atemoya is grown in the southern United States and Australia.
